Greetings Amigos! The time for “La
Fiesta de Los Vaqueros” is here again!
Parade Day: February 21, 2008
You are cordially invited to join the celebration by participating in
Tucson’s Rodeo Parade, the longest non-motorized parade in the world,
Thursday, February 21, 2008. This is the 83rd year for our Southwest
Heritage Parade. To that end, all entries must be Western, Native

The Rodeo Parade Committee annually reviews the Parade and its operations
to maintain its Southwestern Theme and to improve safety and efficiency.
Included in the review are suggestions received from viewers,
participants, and volunteers and a critique following the parade. As a
result, the 2008 Parade will incorporate several key changes in the Rules
and Regulations, and potential applicants should carefully read the Rules
and Regulations and the Application Form.
Parade Entries are accepted on a competitive and timing basis, so get your
Application in early!

Since February 2007, the Tucson Rodeo Parade Committee has partnered with
citizens, city officials, parade participants, parade viewers, and
national and international parade committees to conduct a comprehensive
review of the Tucson Rodeo Parade.
The resulting changes to Rules and Regulations and Operations will require
the cooperation and support of participants to ensure effective
implementation.
Please review all Rules and Regulations carefully with special attention
to the following sections:
• Responsible Adult
• Age Requirements
• Safety
If you have any questions concerning the changes being instituted, please
call the Tucson Parade Committee Office at 294-1280.
The Parade Committee is looking forward to another great Parade
celebrating Tucson’s Heritage! This can only be accomplished if we work
together to make sure all Rules are followed. Toward this end, the Tucson
Rodeo Parade Committee, parade viewers and other participants count on you
to help.
Thank you!

Parade Day 2008
Due to rule violations in the past, and safety being our primary concern,
there will be an inspection judge reviewing each entry as it passes along
the Parade route to ensure that all rules are followed.
Please refer to the General Instructions and Information Sheet regarding
the thirteen (13) rules. Any entry not complying with the rules will not
be judged or invited back in 2009.
All wagons will be checked for operating brakes and other safety measures
(jerk lines, harness in good shape, etc.). Small buggies are required
to have brakes.
We hope this notice will help you prepare for an enjoyable day in the
Rodeo Parade. Thank you in advance for your cooperating.
